Creteil

I am officially going to teach English in French secondary schools. I received my acceptance letter today. My district is Creteil - suburban Paris. Am I pumped?!? Indeed, I am more than pumped. All my studies on Black France, race and ethnic relations, and immigration will be put to the test. Creteil is known as the Parisian ghetto; filled with immigrants and French of all sorts. I'm excited to try out my new academic legs in a realistic situation. I'm excited to be able to go out and actually "do." I plan on reading plays to my classes - including one by Fatima Gallaire that, by the end of this week, I will have written two (large) papers on. Her play is Madame Bertin's Testimony. I will be moving to France in September! Amen.
